Just what is Tarot?

Oxford American Dictionary states: ta·rot (ta-roh) n. 1. a deck of twenty-two cards with special pictures, used in fortunetelling. 2. a game played with a pack of seventy-eight cards that are used also for fortunetelling.

Is this all the Tarot is? I don't believe so; that however is my belief. Any and all definitions in addition to the above are just that; beliefs. I believe, my Truth of the Tarot, is that it is a tool for personal and spiritual growth.

The Tarot has been used in a multitude of ways, and for many reasons, all of them the personal choice, and truth for the one using it. History tells us they were first created and printed for the game tarocchi, that however isn't their whole story. Each of us, each Tarot user gets to define their use individually. We can play with the history, myth, and mystery inherent in the cards. Creating your own Truth.

I have one rule for Tarot, and that rule is wrong: There are no rules in Tarot.
